In 1965, while still a student, I honed my skills at the student radio station, immersing myself in the fast-paced environment of advertising and communication. Shortly thereafter, I joined KOMA Radio in Oklahoma City—a move that would pave the way for a lifelong dedication to marketing and media. Military Service and the Vietnam Experience

In 1967, I answered the call of duty and joined the United States Army. During my service in Vietnam, I was assigned the role of a DJ—a position that uniquely blended my broadcasting skills with the responsibilities of a soldier. My role in Vietnam went beyond the typical call of duty; during this challenging time, I provided a vital service by boosting the morale of my fellow soldiers through music and communication.

On February 5, 1968, during the intense Tet Offensive, I was wounded in action. The Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with V device formally recognized my bravery and sacrifice. My experiences in Vietnam have profoundly influenced my perspective, and they continue to resonate through my work today. My wartime experiences have renewed my commitment to this country and provided me with many stories and insights I share in my inspirational speaking engagements.
